Union Township for the Safe Routes to School Grant Project

Purpose/Need: The enclosed agreement will allow the Board of County Commisioners to publicly bid and manage the Safe Routes to School Grant project in Union Township.

Action Necessary: Execution of the enclosed agreement between the Board of County Commissioners of Clermont County and Union Township Trustees

History of Project: Union Township has applied for and received funding from the Safe Routes to School program.  The Clermont County Engineers office will perform the Local Public Agency (LPA) responsibilities for this grant through the Ohio Department of Transportation.  The Safe Routes to School Grant was approved in the amount of $206,000 which represents 100% of the costs.  Any expenses above the grant amount of $206,000 shall be the responsibility of Union Township.   This grant includes sidewalks along Clough Pike and at Summerside and Gleneste Middle Schools.

Costs: The Safe Routes to School grant is $206,000.00 which represents 100% of the construction costs.  Union township will be responsible for 100% of the costs of this project above the grant amount.

Actual costs will be determined after receiving bids and completing the project.

Expected Outcomes: Installation of sidewalks along Clough Pike and at Summerside and Gleneste Middle Schools.

Time Period: It is anticipated that construction will be during the 2016/2017 construction season.
